Captain America: Brave New World,the thirty-fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,premiered yesterday on Disney+. This release follows a theatrical run that garnered just over $415 million worldwide, falling short of the $425 million needed to break even with production and marketing expenditures.

The film, which experienced several delays and revisions, picks up after the events of the 2021 Disney+ series, The falcon and the Winter Soldier. Some Marvel fans may have opted to await the streaming release.Brave New World,also available on Blu-ray and DVD,features Anthony Mackie reprising his role as Sam Wilson,the new Captain america. The official synopsis reads:

After meeting the newly elected president of the United States Thaddeus Ross, Sam will find himself involved in an accident of world proportions. He will have to discover the reasons behind the global conspiracy before the real criminal mind shows red to the whole world.

Alongside Mackie, the cast includes Danny ramirez as the new Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voelker, Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus Ross, and Liv Tyler as the president’s daughter, Betty Ross. Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) directed this fourth chapter in the Captain America saga.
