Brad Pitt and Damson Idris Log Extensive Mileage Preparing for F1 Film

Actors Brad Pitt and Damson Idris undertook notable training to prepare for their roles in the upcoming F1 sports drama. The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, centers on a veteran racer (Pitt) mentoring a promising newcomer (Idris).

in a recent interview with Variety, Pitt revealed that he and Idris “drove 6,000 miles” while training for the film. Speaking at the June 16 premiere in New York, Pitt stated, “We ended up driving for about two years. I was told that we drove 6,000 miles in total in these cars. So,I’m kinda proud of that.”

seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is a producer for the project and helped ensure its authenticity. Idris described the experience behind the wheel as “exhilarating.” He added, “Every time I was behind that wheel, it was the most exhilarating feeling in the world. And the fact that we got to follow the real Grand Prix and be around all the drivers – I got to watch them, and I got to really see how they immerse themselves in the world – and they were so welcoming.”

Before filming,Pitt and Idris reportedly tested Formula 2 and Formula 3 cars at France’s Circuit Paul Ricard. The car driven by Pitt in the movie is a modified Formula 2 or Formula 3 vehicle, not necessarily an F1 model. Filming locations included prominent racing tracks such as Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, Monza Circuit in Italy, and Las Vegas Strip Circuit in Nevada.

F1 is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on June 27, 2025.
