Fatal Accident on Pemalang-Batang Toll Road

A devastating collision occurred on the Pemalang-Batang Toll Road (KM 332) in Pekalongan Regency, Central Java, earlier today, involving a Honda BRV and a bus carrying Persebaya Surabaya (Bonek) soccer fans. The incident resulted in one fatality and one injury, highlighting the critical dangers of wrong-way driving.

According to AKP Ronny Hidayat, Head of Traffic Police of the Pekalongan Regional Police, the Honda BRV had stopped at the KM 319 rest area. Upon exiting, the driver made a fatal error by entering the P route of the pemalang-Batang toll road in the wrong direction. This violation of traffic regulations led to a head-on collision with a bus at KM 332.

Casualties and Vehicle Damage

Tragically, a passenger in the Honda BRV died at the scene.The driver of the car sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention. Both vehicles suffered extensive front-end damage, as confirmed by Yulian Fundra Kurnianto, Engineering and Operations Manager of PT Pemalang Batang Toll Road (PBTR).

Local authorities are currently investigating the precise cause of the accident. AKP ronny Hidayat stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine all contributing factors to the collision. Wrong-way driving, while relatively rare, accounts for a notable percentage of severe accidents. According to the Federal Highway Administration, wrong-way crashes are more likely to result in serious injury or death compared to other types of collisions.

The bus involved in the accident was transporting Persebaya soccer supporters, known as Bonek, to Jakarta for a match against Persija at Bung Karno Stadium scheduled for this evening.the incident has understandably caused concern and distress among the fan base.
