Set to launch on PC and consoles in 2026, Blighted promises a unique gaming experience. Players can anticipate a world the developers describe as a “psychedelic western nightmare.” A core mechanic involves mastering the Blight, which serves as both a source of power and a dynamic difficulty adjuster. The game challenges players to traverse the landscape, uncover hidden secrets, defeat formidable enemies and bosses, and consume memories to enhance their abilities.
Drinkbox elaborated on the game’s narrative:
“In the past, when the dead were buried, seeds were planted in their brains… the fruits on these trees were special, and it contained memories of the dead.”
The studio further explained the plot, stating, “This continues until the man named Sorcisto defiled the ritual.by eating his brain raw, he gained tremendous power and knowledge. He devoured the entire village, destroyed it’s forest of memory, and infected the world with the deadly blight.”
Players will assume the role of a survivor of SORCISTO’s atrocities, striving to reclaim the memories of their people before succumbing to the Blight. Blighted will feature both single-player and cooperative modes, complemented by a soundtrack composed by Jim Guthrie, known for his work on Nobody Saves the World.
