Los Angeles (dpa) – “Black Panther” fans can look forward to another sequel to the superhero spectacle. US director Ryan Coogler (39) told the film portal “Deadline.com” at an event in Los Angeles that he would tackle “Black Panther 3” as his next film project. We’re already working hard on it.
With Coogler’s “Black Panther,” Marvel Studios achieved one of its greatest successes in 2018. The blockbuster about the African king and superhero T’Challa with a predominantly black cast not only made the box office ring, but also received three Oscars and is considered a milestone in black pop culture.
Continued after death of Chadwick Boseman
After the unexpected death of “Black Panther” lead actor Chadwick Boseman from cancer in August 2020, director Coogler and the Marvel studio stuck to a sequel with many actors from the original film. Actresses like Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett and Lupita Nyong’o took center stage as strong female characters in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” in 2022.
Nothing is yet known about the content of the planned third part. Oscar winner Denzel Washington (70) revealed last year that Coogler had earmarked him for a role in the next “Black Panther” episode. The filmmaker most recently brought the horror film “Blood & Sinners” to cinemas.
