ATLANTA – Chris Sale of the Braves has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a fractured left rib cage, sustained while making a diving stop during his Wednesday start. Manager Brian Snitker has not yet announced a return date.

Nathan Eovaldi, Jon Gray, and Jake Burger, Rangers

Nathan Eovaldi (right triceps fatigue) is anticipated to come off the IL this week without a rehab start, according to manager Bruce Bochy on June 22.

Jon Gray (right wrist fracture) participated in a “glorified bullpen” session, throwing approximately 35 pitches against ghost hitters on June 21 at PNC Park.

Fernando Tatis Jr., Jackson Merrill, and Yu Darvish, Padres

Fernando Tatis Jr. was hit on the right hand by a fastball during the Padres’ win over the Dodgers on June 19. Initial X-rays were negative,as were a CT scan and MRI the following day.

Jackson Merrill (head injury) was activated from the 7-day IL on June 22.

Yu Darvish (right shoulder inflammation) threw another simulated game on June 20, pitching around two innings and 40 pitches.

Shota Imanaga and Matthew Boyd, Cubs

Shota Imanaga (left hamstring strain) pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings with eight strikeouts for Triple-A Iowa on June 20 in his second rehab start. He is expected to make his next start for the Cubs, with the date TBD.

Matthew Boyd threw on June 22 and is on schedule to make his next start. He exited his June 20 start with a bruised left shoulder after making a catch on a line drive back to the mound in the fifth inning.

Luis Gil, Ryan Yarbrough, and Marcus Stroman, Yankees

Ryan Yarbrough was placed on the 15-day injured list on June 22 (retroactive to June 20) with a “low-grade” right oblique strain, according to manager Aaron Boone.

Marcus Stroman (left knee inflammation) is scheduled to throw approximately 70 pitches in his third Minor League rehab start on June 24 and could then be activated, according to Boone.

Kutter Crawford, Jordan Hicks, and Tanner Houck, Red Sox

Kutter Crawford (right patellar soreness/right wrist discomfort) has experienced a setback. After throwing a bullpen session on June 17, he had to cancel one on June 20 due to recurring soreness in his right wrist and will be shut down for a medical exam.

Tanner Houck (right flexor pronator strain) started a rehab assignment for Triple-A Worcester on June 18, pitching one-plus inning and allowing one run on two hits and one walk without a strikeout. He will make his next start on June 24.

daulton Varsho, Max Scherzer, and Bowden Francis, Blue Jays

Daulton Varsho (left hamstring strain) recently ran the bases without issue and may begin playing rehab games during the week of June 23.

Max Scherzer (right thumb inflammation) threw a bullpen session on June 22 and is expected to pitch for the Blue Jays on June 25.

Bowden Francis (right shoulder impingement) received a cortisone shot earlier in the week and was expected to remain shut down from throwing through at least June 22.

Mark Vientos, Frankie Montas, and Sean Manaea, Mets

Mark Vientos (low-grade right hamstring strain) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on June 17 and is targeting a June 23 return to the mets.

Frankie Montas (high-grade right lat strain) is expected to join the Mets’ rotation on June 24.

Sean Manaea (strained right oblique) will likely make one more rehab start before being activated in the first week of July.

Cole Ragans (left rotator cuff strain) has been shut down from throwing until early July, when he will be re-evaluated.

Thairo Estrada, Kyle Freeland, and Ezequiel Tovar, Rockies

Ezequiel Tovar (left oblique strain) has no timetable for his return as of June 22.

Cannon (lower back strain) is scheduled to start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on June 24.

Tauchman (right groin soreness) was out of the lineup through June 22.
