Friday 27 February the eighteenth-century Borgo di Colle Ameno hosts the projection of “Art vs War. Banksy and C215 in Borodyanka, Ukraine”, il documentary film by Michele Pinto who addresses a dramatic theme such as the war in Ukraine from a new perspective, focusing on the value of art as an instrument of cultural resistance.
The documentary takes us among the rubble of Borodyanka, one of the Ukrainian cities most affected by attacks by the Russian army. In 2022, once the siege of the city is over, two famous street artist come Banksy and French C215 (pseudonym of Christian Guémy) arrive in Borodyanka and among the destroyed buildings they begin to paint and create murals: powerful and emblematic works, capable of restoring dignity and memory to places wounded by war and at the same time sending a message of hope to the local population. The film intertwines these images with the testimonies of those who lived through the conflict – citizens, friends and families of the victims – and of three young Italian restorers (Paola Caccia, Alessandro Cini e Maria Colonna), who did their utmost to secure the works of Banksy and C215 and also preserve the civil and human message connected to these works.
Appointment at ore 17.30 at the Decorations Hall of the Borgo di Colle Ameno. Free entry with reservations required eventi@reusewithlove.org
