United States President Donald Trump demands the Taliban to surrender Bagram’s airbase in Afghanistan which was once the basis of US military forces. Trump even threatened that bad things would happen, if the ruler of the Taliban did not submit it.

However, a senior Taliban official rejected Trump’s demands, emphasizing that the facility was an inseparable part of Afghanistan.

Talk to Al Arabiya english In an exclusive interview, the main spokesman for the Taliban government, Zabihullah Mujahid, said: “Bagram is part of Afghanistan. It is no different from other Afghan regions. We will never agree to hand over or submit any part of our country.”

Reported Al Arabiya englishThursday (9/25/2025), he added that “Afghan citizens are very sensitive to occupation, and no Afghan citizens will allow their land to be taken or controlled by outsiders – even inch.”

Bagram, located in the north of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, is the largest US military installation in Afghanistan and the center of the two decades against the Taliban. US troops left him in July 2021, a few weeks before the Taliban returned to power.

Trump last Saturday threatened to give a punishment if the base was not handed over.

“If Afghanistan does not return the Bagram air base to those who build it, the United States, bad things will happen !!!” Trump wrote on his social media, Truth Social.

Responding to Trump’s threat, Mujahid told Al Arabiya English: “For twenty years under the US occupation, Afghanistan experienced ‘bad things’ – not only a day, but continuously for two decades. America should not forget that bad actions triggered bad reactions. In the end, they were forced to withdraw their troops from Afghanistan.”

“Afghanistan is not a country that can be occupied or conquered. They must be involved with the people of Afghanistan politically, diplomatically, and rationally,” Mujahid added.

The Taliban spokesman confirmed the conversation with US officials, but emphasized that they focused on the exchange of prisoners, diplomatic relations, and economic investment – not Bagram, which he called something that could not be negotiated.
