Former President Aziz Yildirim has released a written statement addressing his potential candidacy for the Fenerbahce presidency, outlining conditions for his return.
In a written statement, former President of Fenerbahce, Aziz Yildirim, addressed the possibility of running for the club’s presidency.
Yıldırım’s statement began: “Dear Congress Members, Dear Fenerbahçe,”
He extended his gratitude to “the Champion Fenerbahçe Beko, who brought the Euroleague Cup once again to our country,” and acknowledged “all our executives who have contributed to our other branches, President Ali Koç, athletes, technical teams and club professionals who have contributed to the championship.”
Yıldırım clarified that recent speculation regarding his potential candidacy occurred “outside my knowledge and will,” prompting him to issue the statement “to end the speculation in question.”
Yıldırım emphasized that the primary concern for Fenerbahce is not the lack of trophies, but rather the perceived loss of “resistance, hope and an ordinary sports club.” He described this as “a state of numbness” that Fenerbahçe,”who is the young spirit of independence and resistance, shoudl stand against the rebellion and if necessary.” He added, “Fenerbahce, no defeat in advance does not accept and the leadership of any situation as a success can not match. Because Fenerbahçe is a spirit that has become the symbol of resistance while the homeland is wanted to be collapsed from the inside.”
He stated that “Fenerbahce has neither time nor energy that can be wasted with the discussions in the club. Today, the only need of Fenerbahce is to get rid of a advance surrender atmosphere called to loose without playing, to stand up for victories that will exceed the borders of Türkiye.”
According to Yıldırım, the decision regarding the success of the current governance rests with “our congress members and supporters.” He acknowledged calls for an elective congress, stating that “Our Club President Mr. Ali Koç expressed his decision that they would gather a congress in September for the calls made in this direction to the public and in our private meeting. In this meeting, I would like to express my opinion that it would be right to do it without delay, if a congress will be held without delay.”
Yıldırım then addressed his potential candidacy: “On this occasion,I believe that I have to take responsibility to relieve the longing of our club for many years and to respond to calls and efforts to be a candidate for the club presidency again.”
He described himself as “a president of Fenerbahçe who institutionalized the spread of membership to a wide base by opening the doors of our club to all Fenerbahçe. I am loyal to club traditions and in -club democracy. I did not escape from taking responsibility, I do not avoid. But I will never deign to the strangeness of myself to take a duty to myself.”

He affirmed that “Our community, Aziz Yildirim as a president or a simple member of this spirit approaching this spirit is a Fenerbahce will not be doubtful.”
Yıldırım acknowledged the board’s right to schedule the extraordinary general assembly in September, stating, “Of course, our board of directors has the right to leave the decision of the extraordinary general assembly to September and is legitimate.though, it is indeed the same right and legitimate for our congress members who have lost their confidence in management to the task by gathering signatures.”
He clarified his position, saying,”The fact that I wish to be known about myself around these discussions is that it is an attitude that I will never adopt. For this reason, I should not be expected to take a duty from the current situation. I do not want to enter a polemic with neither with the administration nor with anyone other than our community. In short, I am not a rival of anyone, I am Fenerbahçe himself.”
Yıldırım concluded, “I don’t feel the obligation to enter a race with anyone, as I am not a rival. I think that I have put forward my consciousness of responsibility on Fenerbahçe as a candidate in previous congresses. This attitude is not to escape responsibility, but in contrast to be responsible.”
Candidate Requirement
I am not a rival of anyone, I am Fenerbahçe himself.
Yıldırım addressed the conditions under which he would consider running. “As will be remembered, the current administration was elected to the task with 16,464 votes in the election race. Still, if our community thinks that I should take responsibility in the face of the current situation, it should embody this call with a document showing 1 more than the vote of the elected administration.”
He elaborated,”Those who invite me to responsibility or those who accuse me of avoiding responsibility should show themselves and to themselves that democratic legitimacy with 16.464 + 1 signature is formed in full and complete. At that time, with all my existence, I would like to know that I will exist without blinking in the fight against Fenerbahçe enemies with the same belief and determination tomorrow. Because even though we are in the gallows, our first word is our last word.”
