AZ will strengthen itself with Ayoub Oufkir in the winter transfer period, it is known Football International to report on Thursday. The top talent (19) earns his employer Sparta Rotterdam around five million euros.
Oufkir has been playing for Sparta since 2013, where he made his final breakthrough this season. The right winger has played nineteen Eredivisie matches to date, recording a goal and two assists.
Sparta was keen to extend the attacker’s contract until mid-2027, but took action too late and sees his youth product leave for Alkmaar.
The five million euros for Oufkir is not a record sum. Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye earned around seven million euros in 2022 when he left Het Kasteel for Watford.
AZ felt the need for an extra winger, after the summer departure of Ruben van Bommel (PSV), Ernest Poku (Bayer Leverkusen) and Jayden Addai (Como).
The Alkmaarders already picked up Isak Jensen and Weslley Patati from Viborg FF and Maccabi Tel Aviv respectively, but with the impending arrival of Oufkir, all wingers who left in the summer have now been replaced.
Oufkir was also in the interest of Ajax and PSV at an earlier stage, but then opted for a longer stay in his native city of Rotterdam. Now the left leg with Moroccan roots is making a nice step up.
