Awareness Programs Reach 21,000+ in 37 Cities

Santo Domingo.- The Office of Children and Adolescents (GANA) and the National Council for Children and Adolescents (Conan) This Friday they held the closing ceremony of the programs Positive Parenting and Life Skills, Comprehensive Sexual Education and Sociocultural Animation, that during 2025 benefited 21,612 fathers, mothers, guardians, caregivers and adolescents in 37 municipalities of the country.

Both programs, which consolidate the violence prevention and adolescent empowerment as axes of community development, are framed in the Prevention and Care Policy to Early Unions and Adolescent Pregnancy (PPA) presented by the President Luis Abinader in November 2021.

The program Positive Parenting focused on providing tools to fathers, mothers and caregivers to foster relationships based on the respect, effective communication and peaceful conflict resolution, achieving a notable reduction in violent disciplinary practices and improving the well-being of children and adolescents.

Within the framework of Life Skills and Comprehensive Sexual Education, Adolescents and young people participated in training spaces that promoted responsible decision-making, the development of self-esteem and the exercise of sexuality. informed and safe.

The activities of Sociocultural Animation complemented this process, encouraging creativity and a sense of belonging, and contributing to the construction of more resilient and cohesive.

During the closing ceremony, the first lady Raquel Arbaje, honorary president of GANAstated that “These results demonstrate our commitment to promoting environments free of violence and the comprehensive development of Dominican children. We celebrate the dedication of each family and the collective effort of our allies to sow values ​​that transcend generations.”

We will continue working for the protection and empowerment of children and adolescents, expanding the scope of these programs and adding new prevention strategies.”

The management of the programs was carried out under a mixed modality: directly by Conani and through alliances with World Vision, South Future and Plan International.

This collaboration allowed us to expand coverage and adapt interventions to the particularities of each municipality, achieving support effective and sustainable for participating families and adolescents.

The closure of these programs reaffirms the national commitment with childhood and adolescence, laying solid foundations for a brighter future. safe, equitable and participatory.

GANA and Conani reiterated their vision of continuing to promote policies and actions that strengthen families and guarantee the rights of every Dominican boy, girl and adolescent.
