“In 2026, the Social Insurance Fund will be in good condition thanks to growing contribution revenues, and this will guarantee timely payment of all benefits” – assured Radosław Socha, deputy director of the Department of Finance at the ZUS headquarters.
According to ZUS, in accordance with the financial plan for 2026, which is currently being worked on in Parliament, Social Insurance Fund expenses will exceed PLN 0.5 trillion. About 89 percent of this amount (PLN 444 billion) will constitute expenditure on pensions and annuities.
The FUS plan assumes that the number of retirees and disability pensioners will increase by 123,000. people compared to 2025. The average benefit in 2026 will increase to nearly PLN 4,320 per month. More than PLN 45 billion has been allocated for other FUS benefits, which will finance, among others: sickness benefits (PLN 22.1 billion) and maternity benefits (PLN 11.3 billion). Over PLN 600 million was planned for preventive activities, such as disability and accident prevention.
Contributions are the main source of financing
In 2026, FUS will achieve revenues of PLN 508.9 billion, of which nearly 80 percent will come from social security contributions. ZUS noted that the other sources of revenue are subsidies from the state budget (PLN 90.8 billion) and payments from OFE, i.e. the so-called safety slider (PLN 11.7 billion).
The financial plan explains that We owe solid income from contributions to the stable situation on the labor market. In turn, an addition in the form of a subsidy from the state budget will cover all financial needs of the Social Insurance Fund, maintaining a high ratio of expenses covered by revenues.
New tasks: higher funeral allowance and conversion of benefits
The plan for 2026 also provides for the implementation of new tasks, including: increasing the funeral allowance to PLN 7,000 and recalculating benefits for people who retired in June in 2009–2019.
