The Auchan large distribution brand announced Thursday that it has been a victim “an act of unhealthy cyber” causing the theft of data for the loyalty accounts of “a few hundred thousand” of its customers.
The hacked data include “name, first name, email and post addresses, telephone number, loyalty card number” of assigned customers, reported the group in a statement, while ensuring that “the incident has been circumscribed”.
“Banking data, password and PIN code of loyalty cards” as well as the “prints of prize pools” of customers are not affected, assured Auchan, adding that he warned all of the persons concerned and the National Commission for Data Protection (CNIL).
“A few hundred thousand Auchan clients are affected, a group spokesperson told AFP.
The northern brand had already been the victim of a similar attack in November 2024.
This flagship group of the Mulliez Empire, which announced at the end of 2024 a large restructuring plan with nearly 2,400 job cuts, invited its customers to “remain vigilant” in the face of safety risks linked to phishing, that is to say fraudulent sms or emails intended to deceive people to encourage them to transmit personal or banking data.
The year 2025 was marked by several major computer attacks in France. In early August, more than six million Bouygues Telecom customer accounts were assigned by a cyber attack that led to data leak, including bank details.
