After the Phoenix Mall last October, Arm Wrestling Mauritius met its fans this weekend at the Bagatelle Mall, where the second arm wrestling competition of the Ascencia Series was held. In an electric atmosphere, marked by a large crowd and a high level of competition, the best specialists in the country competed on the tables, confirming the rise in power of the discipline in Mauritius.
If Sankaren Nayagum had made an impression during the previous edition by winning three gold medals, the prize this time went to Etienne Gebert, David Boucarry and Ranveersingh Bahadoo, each achieving a remarkable double by winning both on the left arm and on the right arm in their respective categories.
In the -90 kg category, Etienne Gebert confirmed his national reference status. Impressive in his mastery and power, he won on the left arm against Sankaren Nayagum, before doing it again on the right arm, dominating Muhammad Suhayl Modunnasaib Hishaam in the final.
In the -75 kg category, David Boucarry also achieved a flawless performance. Already highly anticipated, he left no chance to his opponents, winning on the left arm against Rohan Suddul, then on the right arm against Aryan Suddul, demonstrating impeccable regularity and technique.
The -60 kg category was marked by the unchallenged domination of Ranveersingh Bahadoo. The young athlete won the two finals: on the left arm against Muhammad Jasim Eottoal, then on the right arm against Aadam Keenoo, confirming his potential and his promising future in the discipline.
In the heavy categories +90 kg, the titles were shared. On the left arm, Fardeen Hasim Ahmad Kaudeer won in the final against Sankaren Nayagum, while on the right arm, Michel Jean Guillaume took over the same Nayagum, who nevertheless leaves with two silver medals after a solid performance.
In the under-16 category, Shayed Abdul won first place by dominating Hachem Ahmad Al Mehd Hoolash in the final, illustrating the dynamic succession of Mauritian arm wrestling.
Finally, on the ladies’ side, the Women Open category saw the victory of Afafe El-Kissai, victorious in the final against Rummun Ashna, confirming the growth of women’s arm wrestling on the local scene.
With this second stage of the Ascencia Series, Arm Wrestling Mauritius confirms not only the enthusiasm of the public, but also the quality and diversity of the athletes involved. Eagerly anticipated next step, as the battle for national supremacy has only just begun.
