TUCSON – The University of Arizona cross country teams are set to commence their 2025 season at the George Kyte Invitational this Saturday, held at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff. The men’s 4.5-mile race is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. MST, followed by the women’s 2.5-mile race at 2:30 p.m. MST.
This event marks the Wildcats’ first appearance at the George Kyte as 2023, where both the men and women secured third-place finishes in their respective competitions. That day was marked by numerous personal bests, with 11 Wildcats achieving new career records. Senior Cooper Quigley is expected to lead the men’s team, having been Arizona’s top runner in the past two appearances at the meet.
New Leadership and Fresh Faces

The 2025 meet also signifies a new chapter for arizona cross country.Associate head coach Jay koloseus will be at the helm in his first season, working under first-year head coach of cross country and track and field Andrew Dubs.
The women’s team will showcase several new athletes,including Kayla Lark,Amelia North,and Dunja Sakima,all making their wildcat debuts. Sakima, known for her achievements in the 800 meters during her freshman track season, will be participating in cross country for the first time. On the men’s side, newcomers Kai Epompsa, Golinski, and Arizona gatorade Runner of the Year Bryson Nielsen are set to make their collegiate debuts in the team’s colors.
