The Puerto Rico Baseball Federation (FBPR) confirmed the participation of Nolan Arenado as part of the National Team that will compete in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

The player will be part of the final roster that will be submitted to Major League Baseball (MLB) on February 3.

Arenado, considered one of the most complete third basemen of his generation, will play for Puerto Rico for the first time in a World Classic.

“The Puerto Rican uniform represents my Latin heritage and my Puerto Rican blood, of which I am very proud. My grandmother is from Guayama and I feel very proud of where my mother and grandmother come from. Obviously, playing with the United States team was an incredible opportunity, but being able to represent Puerto Rico this year in the World Classic is going to be completely different, and it is something that I am very proud of,” said Arenado.

“The World Classic is a tournament that benefits the sport. It is especially good for the players, since you face high-pressure situations from the beginning, and they are very competitive games. Starting the tournament in San Juan is going to be incredible. I know the fans are very excited, just like me. I really want to play with the team and represent Puerto Rico. The goal is to win, so we’ll see what happens!”, he highlighted.
