Tesla is reportedly developing support for having Apple CarPlay in its models. A feature we never thought we’d have.

Apple’s system has long been shunned by Tesla, which considered it unnecessary to add a layer to its software and preferred to keep total control over it. This project is a real turnaround, while Tesla’s infotainment system is already particularly polished and makes it possible to do without any smartphone replication. Still, this remains a functionality that some current or future users lack. According to a 2024 McKinsey study, a third of buyers found the lack of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto on board prohibitive. Moreover, there is no question of Android at Tesla.
