“In the ever-increasing global uncertainty, Malaysia and Indonesia insist on the need to strengthen principled regional unity to maintain peace, guarantee stability and strengthen economic resilience for the sake of the people’s well-being,” he said.

Indonesia and Malaysia, said Anwar, agreed to defuse the conflict so that war victims in the Middle East do not escalate. Apart from that, with the conflict easing, it is hoped that the world economy can recover.

“We agreed to step up diplomatic efforts to defuse the conflict, protect the lives of civilians and open a space for negotiations towards a peaceful and lasting solution. At the same time, the survival of the global supply chain and strategic trade routes including the Strait of Hormuz must be ensured not to be affected,” he said.

Anwar emphasized his country’s position of rejecting violence for world peace. Anwar also conveyed his dialogue with leaders of other countries in his meeting with Prabowo.

“I also informed about the interaction with fellow international leaders as an effort to express solidarity, coordinate views in addition to examining the global impact, especially in terms of energy and regional security,” said Anwar.

“Malaysia remains firm, rejects violence, upholds international law and urges all parties to return to the path of peace,” he added.
