Complaints arrive from users
Google is rolling out a new update for Android Auto, but this version 16.5 could be the source of a new issue that is affecting drivers. According to reports on the Android Auto support page, several users are facing problems on WhatsApp after updating the Google app.
Complaints report that voice messages sent via WhatsApp are not being played correctly by Android Auto. In fact, even though the progress bar shows that audio is playing, no one can hear the messages since they are not played through the car’s speakers. What’s more: they are also not played through the phone’s speakers.
Users also mention that before they updated the Android Auto app, they did not have this problem. It is then assumed that it was this most recent update 16.5 or the immediately previous 16.4 that caused the constraints in proper functioning.
Google does not make official comments on the matter
Even though user complaints were made on the Android Auto support page itself, Google has not officially commented on this issue. Responds to users, saying that they will contact them by email to have more details to diagnose the problem.
Based on this response, it is assumed that the technology giant is now working on a solution and has already identified the bug that affects the functioning of audio messages in the WhatsApp app.
Until Google releases an update that resolves this new bug, it is recommended that users do not upgrade to version 16.5 yet. Those who have already done so are advised to go back to previous versions. Unfortunately, Google has not yet announced an official date for resolving this issue.
