Samsung has made significant and rapid progress in rolling out the One UI 8 update based on Android 16 to a wide range of Galaxy devices that include phones, watches, and tablets.
The launch process was marred by a temporary pause that affected some models, but Samsung soon continued rolling out the update.

The Galaxy S series is the first to receive One UI 8 with Android 16

The One UI 8 update is rolling out to the flagship Galaxy S25 phones, including the Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Edge, and S25 Ultra.
The Galaxy S24 series (S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, and S24 FE) received the update later in September, with a brief hiatus in October that was quickly resolved.
The Galaxy S23 family, including the S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE, then received the update in early October, with security patch improvements and distribution resuming after some downtime.
The previous Galaxy S22 flagships (S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra) joined in mid-October, along with the Galaxy S21 FE.
Fold and Flip Foldable Devices
The One UI 8 update covers the company’s most advanced foldable devices:
The new foldable devices Fold7 and Flip7 came with One UI 8 straight out of the box.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, along with the Special Edition models, got the update right after the S25 family.
Previous generations of foldable devices such as the Fold5, Flip5, Fold4 and Flip4 were upgraded in phases throughout October.
Galaxy A and M mid-range phones
Samsung’s mid-range devices, especially the A and M series, received the One UI 8 update:
A large batch of Samsung phones got Android 16 in late October including models like the Galaxy M56, M35, M34, M53, M15 5G, A35, A53, A33, A73, A56, A55, A36, A26, and A17.
On October 28, the Galaxy M55 and M55s phones received One UI 8 in the last week of October, with updates also arriving for the M33 phone.
Security updates and minor updates are released alongside major updates to ensure stable performance.
Tablets
Samsung has not neglected its tablets, as One UI 8 was quickly sent out on several models:
The Galaxy Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra were among the first tablets to get the update, followed by the Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 Lite.
The launch expands to include the Tab S9 (S9, S9+, and S9 Ultra), the Tab S8 (S8, S8+, and S8 Ultra), and the new Tab S11 series, all of which run One UI 8 straight from the factory.
New features in One UI 8
One UI 8 introduces a host of new features for Galaxy users:
Enhanced AI to deliver smarter suggestions, proactive routines, and data protection.
New watch styles, smooth animations, new split-screen ratio (90:10), and redesigned weather app.
The Now Bar now supports more third-party apps and provides improved notifications.
Security improvements include KEEP encryption and Knox Matrix integration.
Improvements to Samsung DeX and Quick Sharing, to boost productivity on larger devices.
How do you make sure that the One UI 8 update has arrived?
You can check if the update has arrived by going on your device to: Settings > Software update > Download and install.
After the download is complete, click Install Now to begin the upgrade process.
If you do not receive the update, check back within days, because Samsung is gradually sending it to one country after another.
