Cons – cabaret and comedy

The relentless cabaret artist Andreas Rebers, a hunter of zeitgeists and a “humanist of the radical middle,” presents his second Vienna solo.

Andreas Rebers (68), one of Germany’s most prominent and provocative political satirists, has had a second home in Vienna for several years. After “I warat now do” “I stay at now do” is now the second Vienna program by the passionate cabaret freestyler. No comparison. While the premiere of “I warat now do” two years ago was a very erratic bumbling through modified set pieces from earlier programs, so to speak an upcycling of recyclables tailored to Austria, “I stay at now do” was already a versatile, polished and almost completely new program at its premiere on March 19th. It has been a long time since a solo by this satirical, subversive and musically virtuosic persuasionist has been so compelling and captivating in its analytical density. In an insidiously pointed way, he analyzes world, party and socio-political concerns of all kinds and offers the excesses of the zeitgeist the stubborn forehead of a thinker. You can experience it live on May 10th. in the Vienna City Hall.

Andreas Rebers – “I stay now” (press release): Are there reasons to leave Germany? Yes. Are there reasons to stay in Austria? Yes. Although Rebers is left-wing and rich, he is not interested in political persecution or tax evasion. “The Cabaret Genius” (Falter) just likes to play in Austria and, as a “humanist of the radical middle,” appreciates the “Austrian Way,” no matter where it leads.
