As part of the Alimenterre festival, the Lux cinema is offering two screenings followed by discussions with local actors committed to better, more responsible and environmentally friendly food: the AMAP de Cadillac, the Jardins de Boué, the Marysette and the Auringleta.
With the documentary “Les Antilles poisonnés” by Nicolas Glimois (France, 2025, 52′), the history of the use of chlordecone is revealed through archive images, testimonies and analyses; the public will discover how this pesticide, used to treat bananas, created almost total pollution of soils, rivers and the bodies of 800,000 West Indians. With dramatic health consequences: cancers, neurological disorders, prematurity. An exemplary story of collective deafness despite warnings.
To follow, the hard-hitting documentary “L’Usine des Animals” by Caroline du Saint Damien (France, 2025, 54′), which encourages consumer awareness of the reality of intensive farming in France and elsewhere.
Between the two films, a buffet will be offered by Les Affamés du Local (Amap de Cadillac).
Saturday October 18 at 4:15 p.m. Price for the two films and the buffet: 10 euros. Price for a single film: 5 euros.
