Geoffrey Hinton, often called teh “father of artificial intelligence,” has cautioned that AI is poised to automate a significant portion of routine intellectual tasks, potentially leaving society unprepared for the consequences.
During an appearance on the Diary of A CEO Podcast, published on june 16, the renowned scientist stated that AI-powered systems will eventually surpass human capabilities in nearly every domain. He warned that widespread job displacement poses “the biggest threat to the happiness of people.”
However, hinton suggests that roles demanding physical skills are likely to withstand automation for a longer duration. He specifically noted that healthcare professionals are unlikely to be replaced by AI in the foreseeable future.

Hinton further emphasized the relative security of physically-oriented professions. “Artificial intelligence will be good for physical tasks will take a long time. So being a plumber is a wise choice,” he said. He also suggested that AI assistants could enable a single employee to perform the work of ten, thereby reducing the demand for entry-level positions.
He concluded, “If I had worked in a call center, I would be very scared. You should be very talented to have an artificial intelligence -resistant job.”
