London-based startup YuLife, backed by over $250 million in venture capital, is pioneering a new category called Preventative AI, converging insurance, AI, and wellness.
Preventative AI is designed to transform health insurance by shifting from static underwriting to adaptive, biometric-driven risk intelligence. It leverages wearable data, causal AI, and reinforcement learning to facilitate proactive health interventions on a large scale.
YuLife has launched its proprietary, real-time Preventative AI platform, replacing customary risk assessment methods with a novel, multi-layered approach. This platform integrates biometric streaming, causal modelling, and federated learning, underpinned by its patented adaptive health questionnaire and predictive analytics engine. YuLife characterizes it as an “adaptive risk engine” that continuously learns, engages, and optimizes, delivering real-time value to both users and underwriters.
Health data for YuLife’s AI is sourced from wearables and IoT devices through secure, low-latency pipelines. This data is normalized,de-duplicated,and time-aligned in real time, ensuring that every heart-rate fluctuation or sleep disruption immediately informs the AI risk models. By analyzing this data, YuLife’s Preventive AI platform dynamically tests hypotheses, identifying behaviors that lead to beneficial outcomes. For example, the platform can assess whether increasing midday steps reduces late-night restlessness. To protect privacy, individual records are not centralized; rather, anonymized summaries are shared from users’ devices.
