Pete Davidson Reveals His Tattoo Removal Journey
Comedian Pete Davidson recently took to social media to share the incredible progress he’s made in removing over 200 tattoos. This ambitious endeavor has been a grueling four-year process, and now, the results are truly remarkable. We take a closer look at his story and the reasons behind his decision to start fresh.
Starting the Journey in 2020
Back in 2020, Pete Davidson initiated his laser removal process. The motivation behind this decision was simple yet practical—he wanted to streamline his appearance during movie productions. “They take so long to cover up,” he noted, referring to the unexpected time and effort required to hide his extensive tattoo collection on set.
Challenges of the Process
The tattoo removal process can be as painful as getting a tattoo, if not more. Pete candidly described the experience, saying, “It’s horrible. It’s worse than getting a tattoo. They gotta burn off a layer of your skin, and then it has to heal for six to eight weeks, and you can’t get in the sunlight. And then you gotta do it like 12 more times. So really think about that Game of Thrones tattoo.”
The extensive treatment regimen required a significant time commitment and dedication from Pete. He needed to undergo multiple sessions spaced months apart, coupled with a strict skincare routine to ensure optimal healing.
Reflecting on the Past
Pete’s decision to undertake this extensive tattoo removal process is deeply rooted in his past. He estimated that he had around 200 tattoos when he began the journey, each symbolizing a different phase of his life. “I was a sad boy. It was a weird time. I don’t know, everybody was getting tattoos like five years ago. Post Malone was like ‘Always Tired,’ and I was like, ‘Me too, dude, I’m exhausted’,” he reflected.
The tattoo phase seemed to encompass a tumultuous period marked by exploration, rebellion, and self-expression. However, Pete now views tattoos as a relic of that younger self, eager to peel back the layers of his past and start anew.
Striving for a Fresh Start
“I’m trying to clean slate it, trying to be an adult,” Pete emphasized. With the tattoo journey nearing its end, Pete aims to retain only a few of his original ink, deciding which pieces of his past he values the most. The rest will be a thing of the past, replaced by a more polished and professional look.
