African Restaurant Rimouski | OHdio – New Opening

by Archynetys World Desk

The restaurant Le Bloc Africain, specializing in West African cuisine, mainly from Mali, Senegal, Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic of Congo, will soon open its doors in Rimouski. This is the second establishment for owner and chef Amadou Napo, who already has one in Trois-Rivières.

Amadou Napo chose Rimouski after noting the absence of African cuisine despite a local community. He wants to both respond to this demand and introduce people to this cuisine that he considers under-represented and deserving of recognition among the best in the world.

He describes this cuisine as varied and in which each dish — like tchep — has, according to him, a unique taste.

The Malian native and his wife Divine Kazadi, who is also his partner, also plan to open an immersion room early next year to exhibit contemporary and traditional African art, in order to promote West African culture.
