Othman Moqbel, CEO of Action For Humanity, expressed deep concern in the hours following international hope over a ceasefire deal in Gaza.
“At least 30 more Palestinians were killed in the minutes and hours after the world expressed hope over the ceasefire deal, a stark reminder of the ongoing genocide,” Moqbel stated.
The Debate Over Ceasefire Timeline
While the ceasefire deal is planned to come into effect on Sunday, Moqbel believes this timeframe is inadequate and should not justify further violence.
“This deal does not provide Israel with a carte blanche to commit more war crimes before it takes effect,” he emphasized.
Consistent Humanitarian Concerns
The NGO leader underscored that the gravity of war crimes, the innocence of children, and the atrocities of genocide remain constant, regardless of the impending ceasefire.
“A war crime committed this week remains a crime; a child killed this week was still a child; an act of genocide committed this week is still a genocide,” Moqbel said.
