Press release from November 1st, 2025
The sash – once a symbol of royal dignity – became a sign of charity in the Neuwied district. The Wied Rifle District used this traditional accessory to support an important social project.
Neuwied district. The Wied Rifle District Association in the Trier Diocesan Association showed a special gesture of solidarity: the sash of the 2022 District Queen, Andrea Reiprich, became the occasion for a donation to the “Women in Need” project. The initiative goes back to Reiprich herself, who launched the project together with her Prince Consort Thomas Herschbach after her historic title win as the first federal queen of the Association of Historical German Rifle Brotherhoods.
Individual sash with a signaling effect
The story of the donation begins in June 2022, when Andrea Reiprich was crowned district queen at a shooting competition in Kurtscheid. Since no matching sash with the female designation was available, she had a new one made with the inscription “District Queen” at her own expense. However, she was only able to wear this for a few weeks because she was crowned the first federal queen in Ostenland in October 2022 with the ideal number of 30 rings.
Symbolic value meets concrete help
In order to honor Reiprich’s commitment to the “Women in Need” project and at the same time partially compensate for the costs of the sash, the Wied rifle district, led by district champion Klaus Wittlich and his deputy Bernd Rams, presented a donation. This meant that not only could the project be supported, but a new sash could also be provided for future district queens.
Sash remains
The green and silver sash in the female version remains in the possession of the district association. It is currently worn by Theresia Liedhegener, the new district queen of the St. Hubertus-Schützen Roßbach. She will represent volunteer work until June 2026 with a visible sign of her success.
Shooters show social commitment
With this symbolic and at the same time practical action, the Wied district association makes it clear that social commitment and sporting competition can be linked. District Federal Master Klaus Wittlich emphasizes the importance of the project and is impressed by the commitment of the former majesty. Andrea Reiprich emphasizes that helping women in need in the Neuwied district remains the focus of her commitment. (PM/edited by Red)
