Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi gathered all general managers (GM) of hotels in Surabaya. The hotel management was gathered after an uproar at a same-sex sex party that was raided at a hotel in the Ngagel area, Surabaya.
Reported detikJatimFriday (24/10/2025), Eri asked for strict supervision of all hotels in Surabaya. Eri warned that Surabaya, which was built using religious law, should not be tarnished.
“So yesterday there was an incident like that (a gay party) in Surabaya. So I gathered hotels to convey that Surabaya is a city built with religious law, with the power of religion, don’t tarnish Surabaya with things like that (same-sex parties),” said Eri at the Sawunggaling Building.

Eri invited hotels in Surabaya to commit to ensuring that incidents of same-sex sex parties do not happen again. Eri plans to conduct training for the hotel in collaboration with the police.
“By means of training which will later collaborate with the police, several institutions. You must turn on your instincts, 30 rooms will be installed. You must have a dreer (sound an alarm), do this in all hotels. Don’t let the hotels in Surabaya have no commitment and cannot maintain the conduciveness of the city of Surabaya,” he explained.
He also asked the hotel to immediately report if they find suspicious guest or visitor activity.
As is known, 34 men were suspects in the case of a same-sex sex party that was raided at a hotel in the Ngagel area, Surabaya, East Java. In addition, the majority of them tested positive for HIV.
