National football legend Last Bambang invites the public to be careful in expressing opinions about Indonesia. According to him, conduciveness in supporting your favorite team needs to be maintained.
Bepe, his nickname, hopes that supporters will continue to support the Indonesian National Team whatever the circumstances. He believes that public support can be an injection of motivation for players to perform better.
“I think this is the most crucial time for all of us to support the national team. Because it is not when they are at the top that we support them, but at this time we must be present to provide support,” said Bepe in Jakarta, Wednesday (15/10).

“And that’s why we have to be careful about conveying something, because the connection is that it could or could muddy the atmosphere that is happening outside,” he added.
The Indonesian National Team’s struggle in the 2026 World Cup Qualifications ended in the fourth round. Two defeats against Saudi Arabia and Iraq stopped the Garuda squad from heading to the world stage.
Bepe, who has 87 caps in the Indonesian national team, shared his experience of the ‘ups and downs’ of his condition with the Garuda squad. He is aware of the supporters’ disappointment with the results of the Indonesian National Team. However, he hopes the public can control themselves in their comments.
“I really respect former players or commentators who have made comments during this time because I believe they have a basis for this.”
“But for me, I don’t have a basis yet because there are so many developing issues. I need to conclude first before I speak. So if friends ask me the same question again in a week or two, maybe I will answer,” he emphasized.
