Newag does not plan to build and design KDP units capable of reaching 300 km/hi more. The company wants to cooperate with such vehicles in a consortium. The manufacturer is of the opinion that he is able to produce EZT at 200-230 km/HW for a longer time perspective.
Let us remind you that Intercity plans to buy at least 20 fast trains, capable of reaching 320 km/h. Purchase can be extended by 35 more unitswhich would run to Brussels, Paris or Cologne and as part of CMK North to the Tri -City.
We have already written in our pages about Pesa plans that is planning Start in the tender at the KDP rolling stock in cooperation with Talgohowever, we did not write about the plans of the manufacturer from Nowy Sącz. How does Newag come to the issue of vehicles at a speed of 200/250/300 km/h? We talk about this with its president, Zbigniew Konieczko.
JR: And if so – when, a newag could build a long -distance EZT himself to accelerate to 250 km/h and to a speed of at least 300 km/h?
Zbigniew Konieczek, President of the Management Board of Newag: We participated a few years ago in proceedings conducted in the innovative partnership mode by the NCBiR with the participation of PKP Intercity for the supply of vehicles to the CPK railway component exploited at a speed of 250 km/h. We presented the general concept of vehicles, estimated budget and the expected delivery date of the first vehicle allowed to trade. We indicated that the delivery date of the first vehicles would be possible over 8-10 years.
We do not intend to design railway vehicles ourselves at an operational speed of 300 km/h+. The above position results from the very high complexity of the whole process from vehicle design, from their production to assessing compliance with the basic requirements. From a market perspective, we see limited demand for such vehicles in Poland. Considering the innocentness of high -speed railway network in Europe, we also do not see demand on the European market.
If you do not intend to design such vehicles – for an operational speed of at least 300 km/h alone, do you maintain the desire to implement such EZT in partnership, e.g. with Hyundai?
In the supply of high -speed vehicles 300 km/h + we intend to take part in cooperation with the strategic partner.
Do you plan to start in the tender for KDP trains for PKP Intercity or for mast rolling stock CPK?
We are interested in participating in such a public procurement procedure. The final decision will be the resultant of the conditions for participation in this procedure, technical specifications of vehicles, delivery conditions, etc.
As a newag, are you able to build EZT on a speed of 200 or 230 km/h, especially since you already have a locomotive, regularly running at a speed of 200 km/h? If you are able, are you working on such a vehicle and when he could have its premiere?
We delivered to PKP Intercity 15 multi -system locomotives of Griffin EU200 operated at a speed of 200 km/h. We will start further deliveries from the second contract at the beginning of next year.
In our opinion, we have sufficient experience necessary to design and produce passenger vehicles up to a speed of 230 km/HW for a longer perspective. We anticipate the start of design work at a time when the actual possibility of operating them on the railway network in Poland begins to appear.
