Decryption – Maladie insurance proposes to limit the maximum prescription duration of a work stoppage, in order to stem the increase in the cost of daily allowances.
The work stoppages are more and more numerous and cost more and more expensive. The total amount of daily allowances (IJ) for illness (which represent half of the salary of an employee on stop) increased by 28.9 % between 2010 and 2019 and then by 27.9 % between 2019 and 2023, according to figures from the National Maladie Insurance Fund (CNAM). A strong increase in compensated amounts which affects directly on the accounts of health insurance, responsible for the payment of these IJ. A continuous and substantial increase, which the CNAM wants to stem at all costs.
As part of the presentation of its annual report “Charges and products” – the centerpiece of upcoming discussions on the social security financing bill for 2026 – Maladie insurance is considering a strong measure for “Fight against short -term absenteeism”by more framing the prescription of work stoppages.
