In a move to bolster the nation’s economy, President Prabowo Subianto has approved notable discounts on transportation, including car ticket aircraft and Toll rates, effective today, Wednesday (June 4). This initiative is a key component of the prabowo economic stimulus package for the second quarter of 2025.
minister of Finance Sri Mulyani stated that these transportation discounts are specifically timed to coincide with school holidays, with the aim of stimulating economic activity across the country.
“So this transportation discount is comprehensive to all modes of transportation,” sri Mulyani said during a press conference at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Monday (June 2).

Train ticket discounts will reach up to 30 percent, supported by a government budget of Rp300 billion, expected to benefit approximately 2.8 million passengers.
Air travel will also see reduced costs, with the government covering 6 percent of the Value Added Tax (VAT) on airplane tickets.A budget of Rp430 billion has been allocated for this purpose,targeting 6 million passengers.
Sea transportation will benefit from a 50 percent discount, backed by a Rp210 billion budget, aiming to serve 500,000 passengers.
additionally, a 20 percent reduction in toll rates will be implemented. Sri Mulyani noted that the government is collaborating with private toll road operators to facilitate this discount, estimating the cost to be Rp650 billion.
“In this case for June and July it is estimated that the number of toll road users reaches 110 million motorists. For this it will be carried out through non-PPN operations because in this case the Ministry of Public Works has carried out or provided a circular to the Toll Road Business entity (BUJT) regarding the discount policy of the toll rate,” she explained.
Beyond transportation, the broader economic stimulus package initiated by Prabowo totals Rp24.44 trillion. The overarching goal of these policies is to stimulate the Indonesian economy, aiming for a growth rate of nearly 5 percent in the second quarter of 2025.
