KUNMING, Feb. 18, 2025 – A significant milestone in the tourism industry of southwest China was marked on Tuesday evening when a group of 15 tourists from Thailand and Laos arrived at the China-Laos Railway’s Xishuangbanna station. Their arrival was met with a traditional water-splashing ceremony and an engaging dance performance, symbolizing friendship and welcome.

The visiting group became the first from ASEAN countries to explore the Dai Autonomous Prefecture of Xishuangbanna since the implementation of a new visa relaxation policy. This policy allows tour groups from ASEAN countries to visit the prefecture visa-free for up to six days. Xishuangbanna is renowned as a prime tourist destination in Yunnan, offering stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
