V. Zelenskis also mentioned that the parliament and the public do not support the organization of elections yet, but this opinion may change if a truce is concluded.
“Parliament doesn’t want it, people don’t want it, but if we are given two months of truce, we will start,” emphasized V. Zelenskis.
According to him, the Americans cannot reach an agreement with the Russians on a ceasefire yet.
The President of Ukraine emphasized that the elections are a matter for the Ukrainian people and that Americans or Russians should not interfere in them at all. At the same time, he added that a strange situation arose when the issue of elections in Ukraine was raised first by the Russians, and then by the Americans.
When asked if he will run again, V. Zelenskis answered that it will depend on the conditions under which the elections will be held:
“If it (Ukraine, – ed.) will be in a state of war, that’s one situation. Then yes. But if there will be peace, I don’t know. It’s not a yes, but it’s not a no either.”
However, he added that he ran for one presidential term and is still running for it, and that the term was extended against his will.
