Badajoz Council Bomb Scare: Hearing Aids in Package

by Archynetys World Desk

The employees of the Badajoz Provincial Council were evicted this Tuesday, around 2 p.m., due to a false alarm caused by “a suspicious package with visible cables” addressed to the former general secretary of the PSOE and candidate for the Board, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, which turned out to be two hearing aids.

Agents from the National Police have traveled to the Provincial Palace, who have collaborated in the evacuation of the building located on Obispo Street, and TEDAX agents, specialized in neutralizing and deactivating explosive devices.

Sources from the Provincial Council have assured that the event, which has created great expectation in the center of Badajoz, very close to the town hall, will be investigated to report the events.

It so happens that Gallardo left the Provincial Council last May after ten years at the head of the provincial institution to become an autonomous deputy, a movement in which his political adversaries saw the interest of the socialist leader in being qualified, since his decision coincided with his prosecution for the alleged ‘connection’ of Pedro Sánchez’s brother.

Furthermore, this event occurs just one day after Gallardo presented his resignation as regional secretary of the PSOE following the historic disaster suffered by the socialists in the December 21 elections, when they lost 10 seats (they went from 28 to 18 deputies) and more than 108,000 votes.
