It has been confirmed that one of the persons suspected of organizing a kidnapping on the territory of Germany is reality show star Dāvids Krūmiņš, according to the information at the disposal of the jauns.lv portal.
It has already been reported that the Latvian court has rejected the request of the State Police (VP) to arrest the former soldier of the French Foreign Legion, who is suspected of organizing a kidnapping on the territory of Germany.
The Riga City Court has confirmed that Dāvids Krūmiņas was refused extradition detention by the court’s decision on Thursday. In the press, Krūmiņš is known as a member of several television shows and an influencer. In previous interviews, he confirmed that he once served in the French Foreign Legion for eight years.
The Public Relations Department of the VP previously informed that on Wednesday, in an international operation led by the German police, in which the VP, as well as Danish, French law enforcement authorities and Europol participated, four Latvian nationals were detained on German territory on suspicion of organizing a kidnapping.
This international operation targets a group of mercenaries hired by a rival organized crime group to kidnap the head of an Albanian drug trafficking ring. The person who was about to be kidnapped is connected to the organization of the theft of several tons of marijuana worth several million euros.
Based on the previously received information about a possible planned crime and providing support to German colleagues, involving the Office of International Cooperation of the VP and the officials of the 1st Department of the Serious and Serial Combating of Organized Crime, the necessary information about the organizer of the criminal offense and his accomplices – all of them are Latvian citizens – was clarified.
During the investigation, evidence was obtained of the connection of persons with the criminal offense, and on Wednesday, the police in cooperation with the Anti-Terrorism Unit of the VP “Omega” in Riga detained a man born in 1990 who had taken it upon himself to organize a kidnapping. On the other hand, the other accomplices of the crime were arrested on Wednesday in France, Denmark and Great Britain, respectively.
All those involved had specific knowledge and equipment for committing the crime. The organizer of the crime is a former legionnaire of the French Foreign Legion. Two more persons were previously detained in Germany.
The information available on the website of the European Police Bureau (“Eiropol”) shows that the coordinated action was aimed at Latvian nationals, some of whom were soldiers of the French Foreign Legion. These highly trained individuals were equipped with professional equipment and acted on behalf of an organized crime group.
On the day of the action, four persons were arrested in Denmark, France, Latvia and Great Britain, while the other two, who were arrested in Germany in October 2014, have already been sentenced by the court.
