On January 15, 2026, nearly 9 million taxpayers will see a 60% advance on their tax credits and reductions arrive in their accounts, i.e. an average transfer of 639 euros, an expected relief after often difficult months financially.
Who is affected?
Table of Contents

Eligible: households having incurred expenses in 2024 that qualify for a tax credit or reduction, such as the employment of home help, childcare, nursing home costs or certain rental investments. This payment represents in total nearly 5.8 billion euros injected by the State at the beginning of January, visible on your account under the heading “ADVANCE CREDIMPOT”.
Why this transfer?
The tax administration makes this advance payment each year to alleviate household cash flow, based on expenses validated and declared the previous spring. Objective: to allow affected households to start the year with a little more oxygen, without waiting for summer regularization.
What steps should you not miss?
No formalities: the transfer is automatic, provided that your bank details are up to date on impots.gouv.fr. Without a valid RIB, payment will be sent by check, with an extension of collection times – a difficulty that Lucie*, family caregiver, often testifies to:
“Last year, the check arrived late and I had to advance nursing home costs. With the transfer, you save precious time and less stress. »
How is the rest organized?

The balance of the tax benefits will be paid automatically in the summer of 2026, after checking the actual expenses incurred in 2025. In the event of a discrepancy, the amount to be returned will be taken from your account or requested by mail.
An immediate impact for many households
For Lucie* and many others, this deposit represents a breath of fresh air that alleviates the financial pressure linked to fixed costs at the start of the year, such as childcare, home help or accommodation for an elderly parent. This rapid support, if well anticipated, reassures and secures families who are often vulnerable.
Are you one of the beneficiaries? Has this advance from the tax authorities really made your start to the year easier? Your experience interests us: share your testimony and your advice! Spread the information around you, maybe other caregivers and families can benefit from it too…
