Easter weather and sunshine are forecast – and the meteorologist has a clear call.
- There will be milder weather and sunshine in large parts of the country at the weekend.
- Western Norway and Southern Norway get the highest temperatures, up to ten plus degrees.
- The mild weather brings both ice, slush and the risk of avalanches.
Since New Year’s we have been living in freezing cold. That time is over.
– We are moving to a new weather situation with low pressure from the Atlantic Ocean and milder air masses, says meteorologist on duty Charalampos Sarchosidis.
Meteorologist on duty
In several places, it will be ten to fifteen degrees warmer than it has been recently, according to the meteorologist.
Almost the whole country will gradually get plus degrees – with the exception of parts of Finnmark that will not get rid of the cold blues.
“The big sunny day”
Most of the weekend, however, will offer cloudy skies.
Saturday still looks set to be sunny in large parts of the country.
This could be the first outdoor beer of the year for many, says Sarchosidis.
– If they are brave then, and dress well, he shoots in.
– Will there be a small foretaste of the Easter sun, then?
– Yes, Saturday is the big sunny day.
With the forecast of both sunshine and Easter mood, there is also a call from the meteorologist:
– Get out!
The meteorologist, on the other hand, thinks that the freezer sticks should perhaps wait until March with the outdoor sausage.
– I don’t get cold easily, so I can sit outside on Saturday, he adds, chuckling.
It gets the warmest here
The warm wind from the south and southwest, which ensures the mild weather, has already announced its arrival in Western Norway and Southern Norway.
– Rogaland and Møre and Romsdal will be the warmest tomorrow with eight to ten plus degrees, says Sarchosidis.
During the next 24 hours, the heat will spread beyond Eastern Norway. Then areas such as Indre Telemark and Buskerud will also get up to ten plus degrees.
Yr – Message from the meteorologists 25 February at 11:15
According to the meteorologist, almost no one escapes the mild weather:
– It will not necessarily be sunny everywhere, but in large parts of the country it will be much warmer. Bodø, for example, will have the same temperature as Oslo at the weekend.
Despite the fact that parts of Finnmark do not get plus degrees, there will be a significant rise in temperature here as well.
Although temperatures are creeping up, Sarchosidis believes we haven’t seen the last of winter quite yet.
You just have to steel yourself for freezing temperatures and snow right up until April.
– But we are done with the blasting cold. It’s going in the right direction.
Mild weather = three problems
According to the meteorologist, there are three problems in particular that accompany the mild weather:
In the actual transition from minus to plus, ice dominates.
Eventually it will become slop which is the main problem.
– When it rains instead of snow, it will make for slippery roads.
– Be patient and drive carefully on the roads, especially if the temperature fluctuates between minus and plus degrees, continues Sarchosidis.
The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has sent out several danger warnings for ice for large parts of the country, as a result of the transition from blue to red.
Both orange and red danger warnings for avalanches have also been sent out, which those on winter holidays should keep in mind, according to Sarchosidis:
– It’s a small winter holiday problem, and it’s the big avalanche danger. If you are thinking of going to the mountains, it is very important to check the danger warnings first.
The slippery roads are also something that can create challenges for those in winter holiday mode.
