Drawing playoff 2026 World Cup was completed in Zurich, Switzerland, Thursday (20/11). Italy will face Northern Ireland in the semifinals.
The remaining four tickets will be contested by 16 national teams who must compete against each other in a one-leg format. The European giant team, Italy, must face Northern Ireland in Chart A.
Gli Azzurri have bad memories of appearing in the playoffs. In the two previous editions of the World Cup, Italy was eliminated in this round.

Italy failed to make it to the 2018 World Cup after being stopped in the playoffs because they lost to Sweden. Meanwhile in 2022, they failed to make it to the World Cup due to losing to North Macedonia in the playoffs.
Now, Gennaro Gattuso’s squad has to fight extra hard to erase the bad memories of the last two editions. The winner of the Italy vs Ireland match will face the winner of Wales vs Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Meanwhile in Chart B there will be Ukraine vs Sweden and Poland vs Albania. Chart C will present the Türkiye vs Romania and Slovakia vs Kosovo duels.
Chart D will present the Denmark vs North Macedonia and Republic of Ireland duels.
