The Miss Universe 2025 pageant was involved in controversy after the triumph of the Mexican Fátima Bosch. It was revealed that an alleged secret and illegitimate vote determined the top 30 contestants before the arrival of the official jury, involving conflicts of interest and possible manipulations of the competition. This led to the resignation of international judges such as Omar Harfouch y Claude Makéléléincreasing the tension around the contest and generating a media scandal.
The controversy over alleged fraud in Miss Universe this year began to arise after Harfouch made it known that he would not participate as a judge, because despite being chosen, just a few days before the competition began, he decided to decline, ensuring that there was fraud.
After Harfouch’s departure things did not calm down, on the contrary, all the tension rose even more after judge Claude Makélélé, a renowned football legend, also resigned, stating that he could not attend for this occasion, but that on future occasions he would be willing to participate and support all the candidates, although he did not mention anything about an alleged fraud.
As if that were not enough, after Omar Harfouch’s accusations, the woman from Tabasco was sued by Thai businessman Nawat Itsaragrisil. Miss Universe Thailand (regional organization of which Nawat is director) explained in a statement that the legal process against the daughter of Bernardo Bosch Hernández is derived from an altercation at Miss Universe 2025. The discussion between Nawat Itsaragrisil and Fátima Bosch occurred in the activities prior to the coronation of Miss Universe 2025, after the Thai confronted her for not making posts about Thailand or the activities.
