Today, Engineer Adel Al-Najjar, Governor of Giza, inspected the executive position for the development work of the Zoo and Orman Gardens, stressing that the project will transform the two gardens into a leading entertainment and educational icon that will restore their regional and international standing, making the site the largest open green outlet in the heart of the governorate.

The governor said that the project is being implemented according to a comprehensive vision inspired by models of international open parks, ensuring an unprecedented entertainment and educational experience for visitors, pointing out that the two parks include wide green spaces and recreational areas that will be developed according to the latest international standards.

Al-Najjar’s statements came during an extensive tour to follow up on the completion rates, where he reviewed the components of the project with Mohamed Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Hadayek” Company, which is responsible for developing and operating the two parks. The governor stressed the governorate’s full support for the implementing company and overcoming any obstacles to ensure adherence to the timetable.

According to a statement, Al-Najjar explained that the first phase had been completed, which included infrastructure work, water and drainage networks, and the restoration of more than 90% of the archaeological buildings, stressing that these works represent a basic basis for beginning the development of animal display areas.

As part of organizing the traffic expected after the opening, the governor revealed the allocation of parking lots outside and around the two parks, which contributes to preventing congestion and providing safe entry and exit paths for visitors.

During his tour, the governor inspected the new paths, corridors, and designs being implemented, which depend on an integrated vision to create open natural environments for animals away from the traditional style of cages, providing an interactive and comfortable viewing experience in accordance with international standards.

Al-Najjar also reviewed the operating plan, which includes the establishment of three educational centers specialized in biology and environmental studies, the appointment of 60 agricultural engineers, in addition to the establishment of a veterinary hospital, a licensed pharmacy, and medical units for animals, in addition to an advanced digital system that includes selling tickets electronically, guidance applications for visitors, and a network of surveillance cameras.

The governor stated that merging the Zoo (86 acres) and the Orman Park (28 acres) provides a wide and integrated environmental scope that enhances the aesthetic and recreational value of the site, and provides a more diverse experience for visitors.

For his part, Muhammad Kamel explained that the development plan includes importing 118 new species of animals, including four lions and three tigers arriving for the first time, in addition to importing 362 new animals to enhance biological diversity. He stressed that a delegation from the African Union Association visited the project and praised its commitment to international best practices, while preserving the historical character of the park.

The tour was attended by Major General Majid Al-Sarti, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Military Production Projects Company, and a number of officials from the Gardens Company, in addition to experts and consultants specializing in zoos.
