Maryland Football Lands Top Recruit Zion Elee
Maryland football fans have reason to celebrate! Five-star EDGE rusher Zion Elee, a highly coveted prospect in the Class of 2026, has officially committed to the Terrapins.
Elee, a standout at Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy, chose Maryland over a host of impressive offers, including powerhouses Oregon, Alabama, and Penn State.
A Homegrown Talent
Elee’s decision comes as no surprise, as he cited the strong sense of home he felt with the Terps.
“Maryland felt like home,” Elee shared. “The coaches really believed in me from the beginning of my recruitment. They saw what I could do for the program. I could connect with the players because they’re from the same area I’m from. The academics are strong. It’s a great environment. I felt I could grow as a person and a player there.”
His commitment bolsters an already impressive 2026 recruiting class for Maryland, solidifying their presence in recruiting. He joins teammates Khmari Bing, Damon Hall, and Brian Harris, who also committed to the Terrapins.
National Recruit Joins Top-Ranked Class
Elee’s decision marks a major victory for Coach Mike Locksley and the Maryland football program.
Ranked as the No. 5 player nationally in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, Elee is a highly sought-after prospect. He’s considered the top EDGE in the nation and the top player in Maryland.
Elee’s exceptional talent and dedication are evident in his high ranking in the 2026 On300, where he sits as the No. 1 player overall.
