Zarco Brazil MotoGP: Frustration & Riding Issues Explained

by Archynetys World Desk

Johann Zarco crashed during the sprint race in Brazil, hampered by the behavior of his Honda, but confirms that his motivation remains intact.

Johann Zarco can attest to this: the days follow one another and are not the same. Yesterday the Frenchman finished at the top of the test day and once again demonstrated a great ability to adapt in mixed conditions. If he hoped to be able to continue his momentum in the dry, he did not succeed, hampered by the behavior of his Honda.

Qualified in tenth position, he first experienced a chaotic start, since Fermín Aldeguer made a mistake and completely deviated right in front of him, forcing him to slow down and avoid him, which caused him to lose time and positions. The number #5, however, managed to get back on his opponents and make several overtakes, even though the track offered few opportunities.

Installed in 12th position, he saw his race end prematurely by falling at high speed at the start of the eighth lap, evoking the same problem as at the Thai GP, but ensures that his desire remains as intact as ever. He will be able to benefit from a new test tomorrow, during the main race.

“I was well concentrated, my position was between Aldeguer and Álex [Márquez]and I think I had a correct clutch release, and there [Aldeguer] stood in front of me. In full acceleration, when you have to cut and try to shift… It made me lose quite a few positions but on the first two laps I was still quite happy with the overtaking I was able to do. We had to pass Morbidelli, Mir, Binder and I was quite strong. I was even quite surprised, it was nice”said Zarco at the microphone of Canal+.

“The bike was already moving, I can’t yet ride it as I would like. Once the others took their pace below 1’19, because the pace had to be 1’18″5, I started to struggle. I think I managed to use the tire well on the first two laps, but it’s a bit the same as in Thailand. »

“The good thing here is that there is no real braking and I can see that the problem is still there. This allows me to be more precise about the comment because, often, I am told that perhaps I am not braking well, but there is no braking and I have the same problem. At least it allows us to find solutions. We will find solutions. »

“It’s hard at the moment not to be able to stay with the others and overtake them, because the start is really good and the attack is there, the desire is there. I can’t ride the bike as I would like and I have to keep the method of giving comments as calmly as possible to succeed in moving forward. »
