Wrong YouTube Tips That Are Stopping Your Channel From Growing

As new YouTube content creators, we endlessly scroll through videos, searching for that golden advice that promises instant fame & success

But be careful: many myths could actually slow your channel’s growth.

Myth #1: “Post Every Day to Grow Fast”

Fact: Posting every day can build momentum if you’re creating quick, short content like YouTube Shorts or memes. But for most creators, especially those making longer or more thoughtful videos, daily posting isn’t always the best strategy.

Quality content takes time, and focusing too much on quantity can burn you out and lead to lower-quality videos.

Myth #2: “Just Copy Successful Creators”

Fact: Trying to mimic what big creators are doing might seem like a smart move, but it often backfires. There are millions of channels trying to do the same thing. Instead, find your unique voice

Create content that you would want to watch

Remember, YouTube is a huge platform with over 2 billion users there’s room for all types of content.

Myth #3: “SEO is Everything”

Fact: While SEO can help get your content discovered, it’s not the magic bullet for growth

YouTube’s algorithm is more focused on audience behaviour, like how long viewers watch your video and whether they click on your thumbnails than on keywords

Don’t let SEO overshadow the importance of creating engaging, high-quality content that resonates with your audience

I had been an advocate of using keywords and tags – a couple of years ago

However, things have changed now and by the time we understand what is working now there will be a new change and update

Focus on your Thumbnail and Title, make it as engaging and optimise to get clicks

Myth #4: “You Need to Be Perfect from the Start”

Fact: Don’t wait for perfection before you start creating

Done is better than perfect, especially when you’re just starting out

Focus on making videos, learning from the process, and enjoying the journey
