Youngest Goldman Sachs Director: Paulo Costa’s Story

Dand every two years, the North American investment bank Goldman Sachs, the 10th largest in the world by market capitalization, valued at 243 billion dollars (around €210 billion at current exchange rates), promotes a group of staff to the status of managing director. In 2023, 608 professionals were promoted. In 2025 the time has come for 638 employees to ascend to this intermediate position in the long and difficult climb to the summit of the professional life of an investment banker. One of the professionals promoted is Portuguese Paulo Costa. With one particularity: at 29 years old, he is the youngest managing director ever in the history of Goldman Sachs. Until now, he was executive director of dividend trading in the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.
