One of the prizes will be a ATV donated by a Calerano merchant
LA CALERA.- An intense solidarity campaign is being developed to support Yamilet Sepúlveda, a 29-year-old girl who faces a tough battle against stage four cervical cancer and who requires expensive immunotherapy treatment to improve her quality of life.
On March 24, Yamilet will have to travel to Santiago to undergo her fourth session of immunotherapy, a treatment that costs more than 10 and a half million pesos for each application. As explained, the process initially includes six mandatory sessions, which are carried out together with chemotherapy to reduce the invasive effects of the treatment, and subsequently 26 additional maintenance sessions, which must be applied every 21 days.
In total, the treatment reaches a value close to 320 million pesos, a figure that, according to the young woman, is impossible to cover without help. For this reason, he decided to start a campaign to raise funds, receiving the support of the community and various merchants.
“I thank all the people who have been supporting me fully, because thanks to them I can now go for my fourth immunotherapy. It has been a very nice and exciting surprise, it gives a lot of faith and hope,” he said.
Part of your treatment, such as chemotherapies, is covered by the GES system. However, immunotherapy is not included by GES or Fonasa. Yamilet even presented a protection appeal to try to access financing, but this was rejected due to lack of sufficient scientific evidence.
Despite this, he assures that the treatment has had positive effects on his state of health. “Before I couldn’t stand alone, I couldn’t bend down or take a bath. Now I can do all that again,” she said.
To continue gathering resources, family, friends and local organizations have organized various solidarity activities, such as completed, unique dishes and raffles. In addition, on April 4, a solidarity bingo will be held in the Femacal halls, an activity that will begin at 3:00 p.m. and whose entry will have a value of 2 thousand pesos, with the right to participate for the grand prize.
The event will feature musical presentations by Sebastián Saavedra, Sergio Brante de Hijuelas and a folklore group, in addition to entertainment by Lautaro Correa. The prizes include appliances and other items, as well as an ATV that was recently donated by a local business.
Those who wish to collaborate with the campaign can also do so by bank transfer to RUT 19.447.630-2 or by contacting telephone +56 9 3458 0169.
The community continues to organize to support Yamilet in this complex fight, in the hope that she can complete her treatment and continue making progress in her recovery.
