- YB wins 2-1 away in Lucerne in the 28th round of the Super League.
- A sending off in the first half against Lucas Ferreira (FCL) plays into the guests’ hands.
- Lucerne shortened the score in the 86th minute and ensured an exciting final few minutes.
- Lausanne wins 2-1 at FCZ, Lugano also beats Sion 2-1 at home.
It wasn’t a confident victory for the Young Boys, not at all. But in the end, the only thing that counted was the result for the guests from the federal city. And this was true for her. Thanks to the 2-1 win in Lucerne, YB finally won away from home again after 7 games and took a huge step towards the Championship Group. The Bernese have overtaken Sion in the table and are now in 5th place. More importantly: the lead over the FCL (7th) is now 9 points – 5 qualifying games are still to be played.
In the end, the Young Boys had to tremble more than was actually necessary. Sinan Karweina made it 1:2 with a penalty in the 86th minute and once again created tension. In the remaining minutes, the Lucerne team were no longer dangerous in front of the YB goal. After 6 minutes of added time, the home team had to accept defeat.
Ferreira was sent off after 41 minutes
The two scenes that were perhaps decisive for the game occurred before the break. Involved: Lucas Ferreira. In the 25th minute, the FCL midfielder was shown a yellow card for a tactical foul. The next warning for a foul followed in the 41st minute. This was also undisputed. Due to the early dismissal, the Lucerne team, who had been a little better up to this point, had to play outnumbered for over half.
After the break, the Central Swiss team continued to play boldly despite being outnumbered, but were given a cold shower in the 56th minute. After a corner, Edimilson Fernandes shot in – Julian von Moos unfortunately deflected the shot.
YB didn’t really appear confident even with the lead behind them. It took until the 79th minute before the guests were able to follow up. The people of Lucerne helped again. A shot from Darian Males, who had been substituted seconds earlier, was easily deflected by Adrian Bajrami and keeper Pascal Loretz let the ball pass between his braces.
