Xiaomi MIX 5: Xuanjie O2 & Potential M4/3 Camera

by drbyos

According to the latest news from blogger @ Smart Pikachu, Xiaomi has two new products under testing, namely a magnetic modular mobile phone and a new folding screen phone, both of which adopt a right-angled frame design and have a very high degree of self-research. Among them, the magnetic modular phone is Xiaomi MIX 5, and the folding screen model is MIX Fold 5, which may be unveiled in the third quarter and may be equipped with the new Xuanjie O2 processor.

The MIX 5 lens adopts a magnetic suction solution, which also confirms the news that another blogger mentioned before that “Xiaomi’s magnetic suction lens has started mass production.” In fact, on the Xiaomi 15 series, officials have demonstrated a similar “module optical system.” The back of the phone is equipped with a magnetic interface that can quickly install an independent lens module. This lens is equipped with a custom M4/3 sensor, uses a fully aspherical lens group, has a complete 100 million pixels, a 35mm equivalent focal length and a large aperture of f/1.4.

The f/1.4 large aperture performs extremely well in low-light environments. Combined with 35mm, a classic focal length that is close to the human eye’s perspective, it is very suitable for portrait shooting and street photography, and the background blur effect is more natural.

Xiaomi’s system supports near-light speed laser transmission up to 10Gbps, can achieve lossless RAW data transmission, and seamlessly calls the Xiaomi AISP computational photography platform driven by the end-side large model. This allows the phone to unlock UltraRAW super digital negatives, bringing 16 levels of dynamic range.

It is also very convenient to use: magnetically mounted, ready to shoot, no pairing required, no external power supply required, the lens is compact and easy to carry around with you.

Compared with solutions such as external teleconverters commonly used by competitors, Xiaomi’s module optical system is more like a true imaging innovation. It not only retains the portability of mobile phones, but also uses A computing power to allow ordinary users to easily shoot images that far exceed those of traditional M4/3 cameras.
