More than enough megapixels
We quickly go over the obvious. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra naturally features all the best in the industry in terms of processor and screen. We find the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 16 GB of RAM, but also a substantial 6800 mAh battery rechargeable at 90 W. A 6.9″ OLED panel with thin borders is on the front, and offers a definition of 2608 x 1200 pixels at an adaptive frequency of 120 Hz. The smartphone is certified IP66, IP68 and IP69 for optimal resistance to everyday hazards.
Now, let’s talk about images! Impossible to miss: the Xiaomi 17 Ultra takes over the impressive camera unit from its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. A circular module, obviously reminiscent of the lens of a traditional camera, which consists of a wide-angle with a size of 1 inch (50 Mpx), an ultra-wide-angle with 50 Mpx, and above all a 200 Mpx telephoto lens with a size of 1/1.4″ offering a 3.2x or 4.3x zoom. At the front, there will also be a 50 megapixel module which will take care of selfies.
The ingenuity of this configuration lies in the unique nature of the telephoto lens, capable of maintaining a definition of 200 Mpx at both 75 mm and 100 mm thanks to a mechanism designed by Samsung. Enough to suggest spectacular images, without the slightest compromise on the quality of the shots.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition to go even further
This year, Xiaomi is strengthening its partnership with Leica. The brand announces the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition. Although most of its characteristics do not change, it adopts a two-tone finish reminiscent of Leica-M cameras. Also, the camera block has a rotating ring allowing you to adjust the zoom level – further accentuating the impression of handling a real ultraportable camera.
But, this ring is not only used for adjusting the zoom. It can also be used to adjust the exposure or white balance. A sort of sophisticated shortcut, which is sure to please the photographers in the audience. Finally, the Leica Edition has new photo filters and a sophisticated encryption chip for better data protection.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is now available in China, starting at 6,999 yuan for the 12+512 GB model. This translates, for us, to around €845 excluding tax. The Leica Edition model, with 16 GB of RAM, starts at 7,999 yuan (€966 excluding tax). Obviously, the European price of this new model will be made official later in 2026. For reference, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra was launched at €1,499.
